Safety Coordinator Jobs in District of Columbia

A Safety Coordinator in the human resources industry is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the company's employee safety at work. Their role is to ensure that the workplace is in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and any state-level regulations, which includes developing and enforcing safety policies, conducting safety inspections, and providing safety training programs to employees. They also investigate workplace accidents, prepare safety reports, and work with management to increase safety awareness and improve safety protocols.

The ideal Safety Coordinator candidate should have strong communication skills, knowledge of safety procedures, and the ability to conduct training sessions. They should be detail-oriented, have problem-solving skills, and be able to inspect the workplace for environmental or physical factors that could harm employees. Relevant safety certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), are often required. Prior job roles that can lead to a Safety Coordinator position include Safety Officer, Safety Specialist, and Human Resources Generalist.
